In the heart of Lazio, just a few kilometers north of the capital, the village of Campagnano di Roma dedicates an entire day to one of its most authentic specialties: the pizzinchiella. The festival, young yet highly anticipated, transforms the historic center into a vibrant celebration of flavors, culture, and conviviality, reviving a dish that tells the story of the Roman Tuscia's farming soul.
The pizzinchiella is a humble dish with deep roots: a thin savory crepe made with a few simple, genuine ingredients that farmers always had on hand: flour, eggs, water, pecorino cheese, and white wine. Born from the creativity of rural families, it was historically a staple of local taverns, where it was served alongside local wine. The festival celebrates its history and passes the recipe down to new generations, offering it in all its delicious variations.
The event unfolds across various spots in the historic center of Campagnano di Roma, including Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, Via della Rocca, and Piazza Cesare Leonelli. Cultural spaces are an integral part of the festivities: the Pilgrim's Archaeological Museum hosts conferences dedicated to traditional recipes, while Palazzo Venturi showcases figurative art exhibitions. All around, food stalls offer the pizzinchiella alongside local agricultural products and delicacies.
The festival is designed to combine the pleasure of dining with the discovery of local culture. Highlights of the day include:
The festival is promoted by the Pizzinchiella Campagnanese Association, which preserves and passes down the recipe, with the collaboration of the Pro Loco and the support of ARSIAL and the Lazio Region. A collective effort that has allowed the event to grow since its second edition, enriching the program and involving the entire community.

Here, gastronomic traditions maintain a close bond with the land and farming culture: the Pizzinchiella Festival is its most delicious testament, an opportunity to rediscover an authentic flavor just a stone's throw from Rome.
