Two evenings of flavor and live music in Piazza Ugo Serata
The Pizzetta Fritta Festival was born in the summer of 2025 through the initiative of the Pro Loco of Sacrofano, in collaboration with the Events and Culture Departments of the Municipality of Sacrofano. The stated goal is to promote local gastronomic traditions, with a special focus on one of the most appreciated products of popular cuisine: the pizzetta fritta. The success of the first edition, which filled the historic center for two consecutive evenings in July 2025, convinced the organizers to confirm the event, which returns in 2026 for its second edition spread over two Saturdays.
The absolute star is the pizzetta fritta: a disc of leavened dough plunged into boiling oil and served hot and fragrant. At the festival stalls, it is offered in various versions, from the simplest—with tomato and a drizzle of olive oil—to more indulgent interpretations, following the best traditions of Central Italian street food. It is a humble, convivial food, perfect for enjoying while strolling through the village streets on a summer evening.
Each evening of the festival pairs tastings with a free concert in the square. In 2026, the stage in Piazza Ugo Serata will host the Gemelli di Guidonia on Saturday, July 11th, with their "Summer Tour," while Saturday, July 18th, will feature Holy Kimberlite, a band appreciated for their energy and versatility, capable of spanning pop, rock, blues, funk, and dance. The first edition in 2025 featured performances by Pasquale Sculco and the pop duo Audio 2: a musical program designed to engage audiences of all ages.
The festival is also an opportunity to discover Sacrofano, a village in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, nestled among the hills of the Veio Regional Natural Park in the Lazio region. A few kilometers from the town lies the picturesque Valle del Sorbo, a destination loved by hikers and families, while the historic center preserves its medieval layout gathered around the main square. The July festival is part of the Sacrofano summer calendar, which is packed with events, shows, and evenings in the square.
Admission to the festival and concerts is free: you only pay for what you consume at the stalls. The atmosphere is that of an authentic Lazio village feast, with long tables, music, and the unmistakable scent of freshly fried food. It is the perfect idea for an evening getaway just half an hour from Rome.
Following the success of its debut, the Pizzetta Fritta Festival doubles down in 2026 with two evenings in the historic center of Sacrofano, organized by the Pro Loco in collaboration with the municipality's Events and Culture Departments. On Saturday, July 11th, from 8:30 PM, Piazza Ugo Serata will host stalls featuring the pizzetta fritta in many varieties, along with the "Summer Tour" musical show by Gemelli di Guidonia, the musical-comedy trio made famous by television. On Saturday, July 18th, the festivities repeat with another evening of flavor and a concert by Holy Kimberlite, a band that moves energetically between pop, rock, blues, funk, and dance. Both evenings offer free admission and are designed for audiences of all ages.
