An evening of pizza, music, and conviviality in the heart of the village of Ficarra, in the Nebrodi Mountains
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Pizza in the Square Festival is one of the most beloved summer events in Ficarra, a small town in the province of Messina perched in the Nebrodi Mountains, in Sicily. Every year in August, Piazza San Francesco transforms into a large open-air party space, where the undisputed queen is pizza, a symbol of conviviality and shared popular cuisine.
The event combines two fundamental ingredients of the Sicilian summer: authentic food and live music. The square fills with long tables, the aroma of freshly baked pizza, and a relaxed, festive atmosphere. The program alternates between DJ sets and live bands that accompany the evening until late, turning the historic center into an open-air stage. Admission is free, and the initiative is designed for an audience of all ages, from families to young people.
Ficarra is an authentic jewel of the Nebrodi Mountains: a village of medieval origin, known as the "city of oil" for its production of high-quality extra virgin olive oil, it was also among the places linked to the allure of The Leopard. Its historic center, with its alleys, churches, and scattered museums, provides a natural backdrop for the festival, offering visitors an experience that weaves together gastronomy, tradition, and landscape.
The Pizza in the Square Festival is part of the rich calendar of summer events that animate Ficarra between July and September, with shows, music, festivals, and cultural initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Ficarra together with local associations. It is an opportunity to experience the village in its most authentic and convivial dimension, during one of the many evenings that make summer in the Nebrodi a moment of encounter and popular celebration.
