Three nights of wood-fired pizza, music, and games in Bagnoregio
In the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia region, the town of Bagnoregio hosts the Pizza Festival every year at the end of June, making it one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the local summer. For three consecutive evenings, Piazza Esterzili transforms into a large, convivial space where the absolute star is pizza, strictly baked in a wood-fired oven, served in numerous varieties and accompanied by live music, dancing, and traditional games.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Bagnoregio, which has been enlivening the social and cultural life of the town for half a century. The 2026 edition holds special significance as it coincides with the association's 50th anniversary: a major milestone celebrated with the entire community, including volunteers, families, and visitors arriving from across the province of Viterbo and the rest of Lazio.
The charm of the festival lies in its simplicity: food and wine stalls open every evening, offering fragrant, freshly baked pizzas to be enjoyed outdoors at tables set up in the square. Alongside the culinary offerings, there is a rich entertainment program featuring dance nights, musical groups, and live performances that bring summer nights to life. There is no shortage of moments dedicated to popular fun, such as the traditional Briscola Tournament, which is very popular among the locals.
The festival is also an excellent opportunity to discover Bagnoregio, world-famous for the nearby Civita di Bagnoregio, the evocative "dying city" perched on a tuff spur. Attending the Pizza Festival means experiencing the authentic hospitality of a Lazio village, complete with genuine flavors, popular traditions, and the warm welcome of its people.
The 2026 Pizza Festival in Bagnoregio was held from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28 in Piazza Esterzili, in an edition with a special flavor: the Pro Loco of Bagnoregio celebrated its 50th anniversary.
