Four evenings of music, street food, and local products in Piazza Municipio
Piazza in Festa was born from a simple and concrete idea: to return the most representative public space in Piedimonte San Germano, Piazza Municipio, to its community. The event is promoted by the Piazza Municipio Committee, a citizens' association established in September 2024 with the goal of enhancing and redeveloping the heart of the town, fostering social interaction, urban decorum, and dialogue with local institutions. In just a few months, the Committee has become a reference point for the town's community life, and Piazza in Festa is its most visible showcase.
The musical program is the driving force of the event. Every evening, the square hosts a free open-air concert, with an artistic lineup focusing on the most beloved Italian repertoire: from singer-songwriter rock to pop music, and from the greatest hits of the eighties and nineties to the most recent tracks. Tribute bands are the absolute stars, chosen from groups already well-known to the local public who know how to turn a village evening into a true summer concert. There are also DJ sets, designed to keep the party going until late at night.
Next to the stage, throughout the event, there are food stalls and counters dedicated to typical local products. It is the perfect opportunity to sample Ciociaria cuisine in an informal setting—street food, fried specialties, and local delicacies—accompanied by craft beer and offerings from producers in the province of Frosinone. The presence of Arsial, the regional agency for the development and innovation of agriculture in Lazio, highlights the focus on short supply chains and the promotion of small local agricultural businesses.
Piedimonte San Germano is a town of just over six thousand inhabitants located in lower Lazio, at the foot of the Cairo Mountains, a short distance from Cassino and the famous Abbey of Montecassino. The town preserves a perched medieval historic center—the Castrum Pedemontis—and coexists with a strong industrial identity linked to the automotive plant that has transformed the valley's economy since the seventies. This dual soul, both rural and industrial, is reflected in the spirit of Piazza in Festa: a popular, intergenerational festival where local associations work together.
Admission to all evenings is free of charge. The open-air format, in a square pedestrianized for the occasion, makes the event particularly suitable for families with children, who find space in the early evening before the main concerts. Participation is also the Committee's working method, involving volunteers, merchants, and associations in building the program.
Piazza in Festa does not aim to compete with the major summer festivals of Lazio: its strength lies elsewhere. It is a well-executed village festival with a curated musical program, honest gastronomic offerings rooted in the territory, and, above all, a clear idea of what a town square should be. For those visiting the Cassino area in late June, it is the most direct way to connect with the real life of a Ciociaria village.
From June 25 to 28, 2026, Piazza Municipio in Piedimonte San Germano hosted the second edition of Piazza in Festa, organized by the Piazza Municipio Committee with the patronage of the Municipality and the support of the Lazio Region and Arsial.
Four consecutive evenings alternated between free open-air concerts, DJ sets, and gastronomic offerings. The musical theme was the Italian repertoire, entrusted to tribute bands that revisited the hits of some of the most beloved names in national music. Next to the stage, the stalls offered street food, Ciociaria specialties, local products, and craft beer, confirming the event's focus on short supply chains and producers from the province of Frosinone.
Compared to the debut edition, 2026 saw a more structured program and broader participation from local associations, with the stated goal of making the square a stable space for meeting and socializing.
Made in Italy — tribute band featuring hits by Vasco Rossi, Cesare Cremonini, and 883. Opening night.
Daniele Si Nasce — tribute to Renato Zero, featuring the winner of the "Tali e Quali Show" 2026, as part of the Connection Tour 2026.
Ritmo Italiano Tour 2026 — evening dedicated to great Italian hits in a dance version, with a DJ set by Alex Spagnoli.
Scirockati — closing night featuring the group already applauded in the first edition, with a repertoire of Italian rock.
For all four evenings: food stalls, typical local products, and craft beer in Piazza Municipio.
By car: take the Cassino exit on the A1 Milan-Naples motorway, then follow the SS6 Casilina towards Piedimonte San Germano (approx. 10 km). By train: Cassino station on the Rome-Naples line via Cassino, connected by local bus lines. Nearest airports: Rome Ciampino and Rome Fiumicino, both about two hours away by car.
During the evenings, Piazza Municipio is closed to traffic: it is recommended to use parking lots in the surrounding streets and reach the square on foot.
Free admission to all evenings. Food and drinks at the stalls are for purchase, with typical village festival prices.
The widest range of accommodation is found in Cassino (hotels, B&Bs, and agritourisms), about ten kilometers away, which is also an ideal starting point for visiting the Abbey of Montecassino.
The evenings start after dinner: arriving around 8:00 PM allows you to dine comfortably at the stalls before the concert. In late June, evenings are mild, but a light sweater might be useful.
