Lodi Joins Piano City

Piano City Milano is the great widespread piano festival that invades the Lombard capital with notes every spring. For some years now, the festival has also had its own "Fuori Porta" (Outside the City Walls) extension in Lodi: a weekend when the provincial capital fills with piano music, with concerts hosted in musical academies and city villas. The 2026 edition is scheduled for May 16th and 17th.

Five Concerts, Two Academies

The heart of the initiative lies in five concerts organised in collaboration with the Accademia Gaffurio (in Via Solferino) and the Accademia Gerundia (Via Besana and Villa Lorenzetti). This format fosters a dialogue between established performers and young pianists, held in charming locations: from the academies' halls to the setting of Villa Lorenzetti.

From Mozart to Rachmaninoff

The programme spans the entire spectrum of piano literature: from classics like Mozart, Haydn, and Schubert to great romantics like Chopin and Rachmaninoff. Among the events, there are also moments dedicated to four-hand piano, such as the concert "Vienna a 4 mani tra '700 e '800" (Vienna for 4 Hands between the 18th and 19th Centuries). There is also space for young artists, with the concert "Emozioni al pianoforte" (Emotions on the Piano) entrusted to students in training.

Free Music for the City

The initiative, promoted by the Province and the Municipality of Lodi, offers free admission: a way to bring great piano music to the heart of the city and make it an event open to all, within the national network of Piano City. It's a precious opportunity for the province of Lodi to join the circuit of one of Italy's most beloved piano festivals.
