The festival dedicated to one of the symbolic cured meats of the Piacenza area, in the heart of Val Nure
The Piacentina DOP Bacon Fair is the spring event that the Municipality of Ponte dell'Olio, in the province of Piacenza, dedicates to one of the three Protected Designation of Origin cured meats of the Piacenza territory, along with coppa and salame. Set in the heart of the Val Nure, in Emilia-Romagna, the event attracts thousands of visitors each year who come to taste an iconic product and enjoy a day of celebration in the village. In 2026, the fair will reach its 22nd edition, confirming itself as one of the most beloved food and wine events in the province.
The heart of the event is the PalaPancetta, set up in Piazza Primo Maggio with 500 seats, where you can have lunch with traditional dishes accompanied by wines from the Colli Piacentini. Next door, the Pancetteria d'Autore offers platters and sandwiches prepared with the best Piacentina DOP Bacon reserves, selected from local producers. Along Via Vittorio Veneto, the spring market unfolds, with stalls, local products, restaurants, wineries, a brewery, and about twenty food stands.
The fair is not just about taste, but also about food culture and knowledge. Among the most anticipated events is the demonstration "How Bacon is Made", which reveals to visitors the stages of artisanal processing of this cured meat. The morning is enlivened by the parade and performance of the local band with majorettes and mini-majorettes, while throughout the day there is the "Games in the Square" area designed for families and children, choral performances, and a final aperitif with local cured meats and wines.
Piacentina DOP Bacon is a cured meat made from the pork belly, salted, rolled, and aged according to an ancient tradition rooted in the rural culture of the Val Nure. The fair in Ponte dell'Olio was created precisely to promote this excellence and the work of local producers, in a context that combines territorial promotion with the typical conviviality of Emilia festivals. Organized by the Municipality of Ponte dell'Olio together with the Comunità Valnure, the event has free admission.
The 22nd Piacentina DOP Bacon Fair was held on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Ponte dell'Olio (PC), from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The day began at 9:00 AM with the opening of the Piacentina DOP Bacon stands and the Spring Fair along Via Vittorio Veneto and Piazza Primo Maggio, followed by the opening of the "Pancetteria d'Autore" with platters and sandwiches from the best reserves. At 10:00 AM, the "Games in the Square" area and the "Find the Bacon Ace" initiative kicked off. At 11:00 AM, the parade of the local band with majorettes and mini-majorettes enlivened the village streets, while at 11:15 AM the official inauguration took place. The PalaPancetta, with 500 seats, opened at 11:30 AM with restaurants, wineries, a brewery, and about twenty food stands. In the afternoon, at 3:30 PM, the demonstration "How Bacon is Made", followed by choral performances and the final aperitif. Free admission.

Ponte dell'Olio is located in Val Nure, about 30 minutes from Piacenza along the SS654 of Val Nure. By car from Piacenza, follow the signs for Bettola/Val Nure. The nearest train station is Piacenza, connected to the village by local bus lines.
The fair takes place from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Free admission; tastings and food purchases are at the expense of the individual stands and the PalaPancetta.
