The authentic Oktoberfest of Falzes in the Puster Valley, in the heart of South Tyrol
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Pfolzna Oktoberfest is the most anticipated beer festival in Falzes/Pfalzen, a small village nestled on a sunny terrace in the Puster Valley, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (South Tyrol). Every year in October, the village transforms into a true miniature Wiesn, with a large marquee set up next to the Pavillon in Kirchplatz, in the historic center.
The event was born in 2015 from an idea by a group of eleven local friends who called themselves "Die Frühaufsteher" (the early risers). From a simple gathering of neighbors, the Pfolzna Oktoberfest has grown in just a few years to become one of the most popular and authentic highlights of the South Tyrolean autumn, attracting visitors from across the valley and beyond. The organization remains entirely in the hands of local volunteers, and this community spirit is what makes the event so special.
The highlight is the grand Saturday procession, the famous Aufmarsch, which winds through the center of Falzes: floats, brass bands in traditional costume, Schuhplattler groups, and vintage tractors parade in a riot of color and music. Upon arrival at the marquee, the official keg tapping (the Bieranstich) takes place, signaling the start of the festivities. Beer flows alongside Tyrolean culinary specialties in a warm and convivial atmosphere.
The program alternates between traditional Bavarian and South Tyrolean music and more modern vibes: from performances by local bands and guest Blasmusik ensembles to evenings animated by dance orchestras and DJs that keep the marquee jumping until late at night. The performances by the Schuhplattler folk dance groups are one of the most characteristic and beloved features of the festival, as they are true guardians of South Tyrolean popular traditions.
More than just a beer festival, the Pfolzna Oktoberfest is a defining event for the municipality of Falzes and the entire Puster Valley: it combines Tyrolean hospitality, a passion for folk music, and a love for good food in a charming alpine setting. For those visiting South Tyrol in autumn, it is the perfect opportunity to experience the authenticity of South Tyrolean culture firsthand.
