About Falzes Village Festival

The Pfolzna Dorffest, or Falzes Village Festival, is the most anticipated summer event in this small Puster Valley municipality in the province of Bolzano. For an entire weekend, the village center comes alive with culinary delights from local associations, the official beer tapping ceremony, live music, and the grand traditional Sunday parade. It is an authentic celebration organized by local volunteers, where families, locals, and visitors share in the hospitality and folk traditions of South Tyrol.

The Falzes Village Festival

The Pfolzna Dorffest, known in Italian as the Festa del paese di Falzes, is the summer event that brings together the entire community of the small village of Falzes (Pfalzen) every year. Nestled on a sunny plateau at the entrance to the Puster Valley in the province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol, the village center transforms into a vibrant festival space for a long weekend, hosted by local associations offering gastronomic specialties, music, and entertainment for all ages.

A tradition supported by volunteers

Established in the second half of the 2010s, the festival has grown with each edition to become one of the most awaited events on the local calendar. It is organized by volunteers and numerous village associations, from musical groups to the volunteer fire department, in a collaboration that embodies the South Tyrolean community spirit. Proceeds from the event support the activities of the local associations.

The festival program

The festival structure follows a well-established three-day tradition:

  • Friday evening: Official opening with the beer tapping ceremony (Bieranstich), the first convivial moment that kicks off the festivities;
  • Saturday: The party continues in the afternoon and evening with live music and food stalls;
  • Sunday: The highlight of the event, starting in the morning and culminating in the grand parade through the village streets, featuring brass bands and groups in traditional costumes.

South Tyrolean flavors and atmosphere

The heart of the event lies in the culinary specialties prepared by the local associations: traditional South Tyrolean dishes, desserts, beer, and local products served at stalls set up in the village center. The sound of brass bands, the convivial atmosphere, and the festive spirit make the Pfolzna Dorffest an ideal opportunity to discover the authentic hospitality of a Puster Valley mountain village, far from the main tourist crowds.

Falzes and the Puster Valley

Located at the foot of the Kronplatz ski area, the Municipality of Falzes and its hamlets are a popular destination for active holidays in every season. The village festival offers visitors the chance to experience the most genuine and communal side of this corner of South Tyrol, where folk traditions are still a living part of everyday life.
