About Pezzate and Fasciuole Festival

On August 18th, Sant'Angelo Limosano, in the province of Campobasso, celebrates the most genuine flavours of its tradition with the Pezzate and Fasciuole Festival. Pezzata, a dish of slowly cooked sheep meat, and fasciuole, beans prepared according to the old recipe, are the protagonists of a festive evening that welcomes those returning to the village for the summer, with food stalls and music, in the Molise village linked to the figure of Pope Celestino V.

The flavours of Molise shepherding

In Sant'Angelo Limosano, in the inland Molise region near Campobasso, traditional shepherding cuisine is still alive. On August 18th, the village dedicates the Pezzate and Fasciuole Festival to it, which brings two symbolic dishes of the area to the table: pezzata, made from sheep meat slowly cooked according to the ancient shepherds' recipe, and fasciuole, beans prepared in the traditional way.

A late summer celebration

The festival is also a moment of welcome for emigrants returning to the village for their holidays, an occasion for the community to come together and celebrate summer. Among the food stalls and music, the village comes alive with a convivial celebration that highlights the authentic products and flavours of inland Molise.

In the village of Celestino V

Sant'Angelo Limosano, known for being the birthplace of Pope Celestino V, thus completes its calendar of festivals with a summer gastronomic event. After the religious festival of the hermit pope in spring, the Pezzate and Fasciuole Festival is the popular and convivial face of the village's summer, to be experienced by savouring the traditional shepherding cuisine.

Pezzate and Fasciuole Festival — edition 2026

For 2026, Sant'Angelo Limosano renews on August 18th the Pezzate and Fasciuole Festival, featuring traditional sheep meat pezzata and fasciuole, with food stalls and music. The detailed program will be released in the weeks prior.
