The "Pesce d'Amare" Fish Festival is one of the most cherished summer events in Trappeto, a small seaside village in the Province of Palermo, Sicily, overlooking the Gulf of Castellammare. The event celebrates the town's historical vocation, inhabited for centuries by farmers and fishermen, and highlights the fresh catch of the Tyrrhenian Sea, the true star of local tables.
The festival takes place in the heart of the town, between Piazza Assunta and Via Trapani, where food stalls are set up. The festivities begin in the afternoon and continue until evening, enlivening the town center with the scents of the sea, music, and conviviality. The event is part of the Trappeto Summer calendar, a rich program of events that enlivens the municipality from July to September with shows, music, meetings, and gastronomic spaces.
The heart of the festival lies in the fresh fish specialties prepared according to traditional Sicilian maritime customs. The event is organized in collaboration with the Lega Navale Trappeto-Balestrate-Partinico and the Trappeto Fishermen's Cooperative, reflecting the deep bond between the festival and the local fishing industry. Visitors can savor fried mixed fish, grilled fish, and other delicacies from the Gulf, accompanied by the authentic flavors of a simple yet flavorful cuisine.
