A cycling and gastronomic tour through Cerano, Trecate, and the rice fields of the West Ticino region
Pedaliamo e Mangiamo is one of the most beloved events in the West Ticino area, in the heart of the Province of Novara, Piedmont. This non-competitive cycling and culinary excursion focuses on the pleasure of riding at a leisurely pace along country roads connecting the towns of Cerano, Sozzago, San Martino, and Trecate, with stops at each stage to enjoy a different local dish.
The route covers approximately 25 flat kilometers, making it accessible even for casual cyclists. The day is designed to combine outdoor activity, social interaction, and tastings: the bicycle serves as the thread connecting the town squares and historic farmhouses of the region, set against a landscape of rice paddies, irrigation canals, and the Po Valley countryside.
The event is a collaboration between the Pro Loco associations of Cerano, Sozzago, and Trecate and the San Martino Youth Group. Technical assistance is provided by Cicli Padulo, and medical support is guaranteed by the Trecate branch of the Italian Red Cross, highlighting the event's strong roots in the local community.
Reaching its twenty-sixth edition in 2026, Pedaliamo e Mangiamo has become a consolidated spring tradition in the Novara area. It is the perfect opportunity to discover a corner of Piedmont often overlooked by major tourist circuits, characterized by small towns, authentic flavors, and a network of Pro Loco associations that keep local life vibrant. In case of bad weather, activities will be held at Villa Cicogna in Trecate.
The 2026 edition, the twenty-sixth, confirmed the well-tested formula of the non-competitive bike ride between Cerano, Sozzago, San Martino, and Trecate. A day of gentle sport, good food, and conviviality organized by local Pro Loco associations together with the San Martino Youth Group.
Approximately 25 km non-competitive route. Technical assistance by Cicli Padulo and medical service provided by the Italian Red Cross - Trecate Committee. In case of bad weather, activities take place at Villa Cicogna.
Cerano is located in the easternmost part of the Province of Novara, near the border with Lombardy. By car, it can be reached via the A4 motorway (Trecate-Cerano exit) or the A26. By train, the nearest station is Trecate, on the Turin-Milan line.
There are two meeting points: Piazza Crespi in Cerano (starting from 9:30 AM) and Piazza Cavour in Trecate (meeting from 10:00 AM).
The participation fee is 20 euros for adults, 10 euros for children aged 6 to 10, and free for children under 6. Registration is available in advance at participating local shops (bakeries, newsstands, and Pro Loco offices) until all spots are filled.
