The historic non-competitive eco-friendly bike ride between the Rocca and the Cavour countryside
Founded in 1980, Pedala Cavour is one of the most deep-rooted events in the town of Cavour, in the province of Turin. It is a non-competitive eco-friendly bike ride, a cycling tour truly open to everyone, from children to the elderly: the official slogan refers to participants "from 0 to 99 years old." Every year, the event falls on June 2nd, coinciding with Republic Day, turning the day into a great village festival dedicated to movement, conviviality, and the outdoors.
The route winds for about 15 kilometers along paved, undulating but easy country roads, completely closed to traffic to ensure the safety of the cyclists. The path touches the hamlets of Babano, Sant'Antonio, and Sant'Agostino, runs alongside the Abbey, and takes place in the shadow of the monumental Rocca di Cavour, the isolated hill that has always been the symbol of the town. In some editions, the itinerary has also extended to the neighboring municipal territories of Campiglione Fenile, Bibiana, and Bagnolo, confirming the cycling tourism vocation of Piedmont.
Pedala Cavour is not a race: it is a moment of community. A refreshment stop is planned halfway through the journey, while upon arrival, all participants receive a free snack based on fresh bread, cold cuts, and drinks, thanks to the collaboration of local producers. The day concludes with the awards ceremony and a rich prize draw, which usually includes a travel voucher, a new bicycle, and numerous shopping vouchers.
Organized by the ProCavour association with the patronage of the Municipality of Cavour, the event has also taken on a charitable value over the years, with collaborations dedicated to raising awareness on issues such as blood donation. It is an appointment that perfectly captures the spirit of rural Piedmont: simple, authentic, and deeply connected to its community.
The 47th edition of Pedala Cavour enlivened the Republic Day 2026, with an edition that was particularly heartfelt as it coincided with the 80th anniversary of the Italian Republic. The historic eco-friendly bike ride confirmed its proven formula: afternoon meeting, group departure, and a route of about 15 kilometers on traffic-free country roads, between the hamlets and the Abbey at the foot of the Rocca. Upon arrival, a free snack for everyone and an awards ceremony with the highly anticipated final draw.
