Art, music, poetry, and gastronomy amidst the blooming peach orchards of Volpedo
Peach Blossoms – Agriculture on Display is a national cultural festival held in Volpedo, a small town in the province of Alessandria, Piedmont, during the spectacular spring blooming of the peach orchards surrounding the village. Established in 2024, the festival weaves art, music, literature, poetry, science, and gastronomy into a single widespread program, transforming this Divisionist village into an open-air cultural laboratory. Admission to all events is free.
Volpedo is universally known as the home of Giuseppe Pellizza, the Divisionist painter famous for his masterpiece The Fourth Estate. The Pellizza Studio Museum, the Divisionism Gallery, the Civic Art Gallery, and the Diocesan Museum make the town a small but highly valuable cultural hub, which during Peach Blossoms becomes the natural stage for exhibitions and curated trails throughout the historic center.
Each edition revolves around a philosophical theme that serves as a common thread for meetings, exhibitions, and shows. The program typically spans three days:
The gastronomic dimension is an integral part of the festival: the dedicated area showcases typical products from the Tortona hills, from the Volpedo peach to Tortona wild strawberries, Garbagna cherries, Derthona Timorasso DOC wines, Montébore cheese, and the Nobile del Giarolo salami, all the way to honey and the white truffle of San Sebastiano. Street food accompanies the evening concerts and cultural appointments.
Promoted by the Municipality of Volpedo under the artistic direction of Roberto Chiapparoli and supported by the Pellizza Association and numerous local entities, the festival has become a highly anticipated spring event in the Alessandria area, successfully blending the enhancement of the agricultural landscape with the cultural promotion of a village with a strong artistic identity.
Volpedo is located in the province of Alessandria, just a few kilometers from Tortona. By car: take the A7 Milan-Genoa motorway, exit at Tortona, then follow the provincial roads towards Val Curone. By train: Tortona station, well-served by the Milan-Genoa line, then continue by bus or taxi.
Admission to all festival events is free.
The festival takes place in spring, coinciding with the peach blossom season (early April).
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for the trails through the orchards and the historic center's museums, and booking your accommodation in the Tortona and Val Curone area well in advance.
