The patronal feast of the hamlet of Entrèves
The Patronal Feast of Saint Margaret is the most important celebration for the hamlet of Entrèves, a village in Courmayeur (Province of Aosta) located at the entrance of Val Ferret, at the foot of the Italian side of Mont Blanc. Every year, around July 20th, the community gathers around its patron saint with a feast that combines religious moments and popular tradition.
The heart of the feast is the solemn mass in the parish church of Saint Margaret, accompanied by the choirs of Valdigne, civil and military authorities, and folklore groups. This is followed by the evocative procession with the statue of the saint carried by Les Amis d'Entrèves, accompanied by the Courmayeur-La Salle musical band, the Frustapots group, the village children, and guest confraternities.
The feast involves the entire community with ceremonies, tournaments, typical dishes, and local crafts. Among the most anticipated moments are the distribution of polenta (with sausage or tripe) served to participants, performances by folklore groups like Les Frustapots de Gressan and Les Badochys, and the closing zero-acoustic-impact fireworks display, respectful of the alpine environment and animals.
Saint Margaret in Entrèves is a feast that tells the authentic soul of Courmayeur, far from the spotlight of worldly tourism. Organized by the parish and the association Les Amis d'Entrèves, it brings together residents, vacationers, and guests in one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the summer Aosta Valley.
The Patronal Feast of Saint Margaret 2026 renews the summer appointment of the hamlet of Entrèves, at the foot of Mont Blanc. The feast follows the traditional structure: solemn mass with the choirs of Valdigne, procession with the statue of the patron saint carried by Les Amis d'Entrèves and accompanied by the Courmayeur-La Salle band and folklore groups, polenta distribution, and zero-acoustic-impact fireworks display. The precise calendar will be published by the parish of Saint Margaret.
Based on recent editions, the Saint Margaret feast unfolds over two days around July 20:
