Saint Lawrence, Patron Saint of Romagnese

Romagnese, in the Province of Pavia (Lombardy), is a village in the upper Oltrepò Pavese region whose patron saint is Saint Lawrence. The martyr, who died in the summer of 258 during the persecution ordered by Emperor Valerian, is celebrated every year on August 10th, a date that tradition inextricably links to the night of the shooting stars.

The Feast on the Night of the Perseids

The coincidence between the patronal feast and the famous Night of Saint Lawrence makes this event particularly evocative.
