Four days of patronal festivities and an agricultural fair in the hamlet of Valle Casette, Montà
Every spring, the hamlet of Valle Casette, a small village in the municipality of Montà in the province of Cuneo, transforms for four days into the beating heart of Roero life. The Patronal Feast of Saint Joseph the Worker is one of those local festivals that captures the soul of rural Piedmont: born and raised around the devotion to the patron saint of workers, it is now a beloved event that unites the local community and draws visitors from across the Roero region.
The common thread of the festival is the cuisine prepared by the Pro Loco. At the food stand, you can enjoy appetizers, agnolotti, pork shank with potatoes, mixed grills, cheese boards, and desserts, all paired with wines from the surrounding hills. The most anticipated specialty remains the "anciue al verd" (anchovies in green sauce), a traditional Piedmontese peasant dish linked to the history of the "anchovy sellers" from the Maira Valley who once traveled these lands.
The highlight is the Agricultural and Commercial Fair, which reached its twenty-first edition in 2026. It is a day dedicated to the exhibition of vintage and modern tractors, featuring the evocative traditional threshing demonstration by the "Ruggine Piemontese" group, alongside stalls selling local products and agricultural machinery. It is an opportunity to rediscover the crafts and techniques of the past in a territory where agriculture remains a living identity.
The evenings are brought to life by live music and DJ sets, ranging from entertainment for younger crowds to ballroom dancing with live orchestras. There is also plenty of space for children with dedicated activities. Among the most beautiful features of the festival is the twinning with a French delegation, welcomed every year by the hamlet, and the charitable initiative of scholarships awarded, in agreement with the local school district, to the best middle school graduates. It is a festival that looks to tradition while also investing in the future of its community.
The 21st edition of the Patronal Feast of Saint Joseph the Worker in Valle Casette di Montà confirmed the success of its classic formula, with four days enlivened by the Pro Loco's cuisine and a rich calendar of music and tradition.
The heart of the event was Sunday, dedicated to the Agricultural and Commercial Fair, featuring an exhibition of tractors and the traditional threshing demonstration by the "Ruggine Piemontese" group.
