The rural festival in the Asti hills featuring golden wheat, local traditions, and fine Piedmontese cuisine
Nestled in the heart of the Asti hills, the small town of San Paolo Solbrito, in the province of Asti and the Piedmont region, dedicates one of its most cherished events to the fruits of the land: the Wheat Festival. It is a village festival in the most authentic sense, created to celebrate the harvest and the peasant civilization that for centuries has defined the rhythm of life in these rural hamlets, amidst wheat fields, vineyards, and farmhouses.
Wheat, a symbol of abundance and shared labor, is the common thread running through the entire festival. The event keeps the connection to the agricultural world of the Asti area and the community's roots alive, offering an opportunity to gather around the values of tradition, hard work in the fields, and Piedmontese hospitality. For the town, it is also a moment of strong collective identity, where different generations work together to ensure the event's success.
The Wheat Festival takes place over a long weekend in mid-June with a rich calendar of events. Key features that return year after year include:
The festival is organized by the Nuova Pro Loco of San Paolo Solbrito with the patronage of the Municipality. The association's volunteers manage the stalls, kitchens, and event setup, in an organizational effort that involves much of the village. The Wheat Festival is thus not only a gastronomic and entertainment event but also a precious opportunity to support community life and the cohesion of a small town in the Asti area.
Visitors to the Wheat Festival discover the authenticity of a village fair in the Monferrato area of Asti: genuine food, affordable prices, live music, and that familiar, welcoming atmosphere that characterizes festivals in the Piedmontese hills. It is an ideal occasion to savor local flavors and immerse yourself in the rural tradition of Piedmont.
