Pasta & Musik: The Vahrn band at the table

Pasta & Musik is one of the most anticipated summer evenings in Vahrn, a town in the Eisacktal valley (Province of Bolzano, South Tyrol) nestled at an altitude of about 670 meters, just a few minutes north of Brixen. It is organized by the Musikkapelle Vahrn, the town's historic brass band, which for one evening transforms the Festplatz — the central festival grounds — into a large open-air gathering where live music meets local cuisine.

An authentic village festival

The formula is simple and genuine, as per South Tyrolean tradition: the band members, dressed in traditional costumes, serve plates of pasta, canederli, and other local delicacies, accompanied by fresh beer and regional wines. Between courses, the band takes the stage to perform, alternating between marches, polkas, and lighter pieces from their repertoire. It is an evening designed for bringing together locals, families, and visitors passing through the Eisacktal.

The Musikkapelle Vahrn

The Musikkapelle Vahrn is one of the community's most deeply rooted associations: founded in 1871, it now counts about 60 active musicians, supported by Marketenderinnen and flag bearers. They accompany the town's main civil and religious events and offer various concerts throughout the year, from the spring concert to summer evenings like Pasta & Musik. These gastronomic and social initiatives are one of the ways the band self-finances and keeps the musical tradition alive in Vahrn.

Where and when

The event is held at the Vahrn Festplatz, the town's festival area equipped for outdoor dining and covered in case of bad weather. Vahrn is easily accessible from the Brenner motorway (A22, Brixen/Vahrn exit) and is an excellent base for exploring the Eisacktal, from the Vahrner See lake to the famous Novacella Abbey, the oldest winery in the valley. Pasta & Musik is the perfect opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a true South Tyrolean village festival.
