About Parabilia

Parabilia – The Colors of Christmas is the major winter festival that transforms the historic center of Parabita, in the province of Lecce, into an enchanted setting of lights, music, and wonder. From December 6th to January 6th, the streets and squares of this Salento village come alive with luminous displays, handmade installations, nativity scenes, gospel concerts, street bands, children's shows, and charity initiatives. A widespread and community-driven Christmas celebration designed for families and visitors of all ages, making Parabita one of the most charming destinations in Salento during the holidays.

Parabilia, the Christmas that lights up Parabita

Parabilia – The Colors of Christmas is the festival that every year dresses the historic center of Parabita, a small town in the province of Lecce, in the heart of Salento, Puglia, in a festive guise. For a full month, from December 6th to Epiphany, the streets, squares, and alleys of the village are transformed into an enchanted landscape of lights, colors, music, and installations. It is not just a simple market, but a truly immersive and widespread Christmas experience that involves the entire community.

A journey of lights and installations

The heart of Parabilia lies in the luminous sets and handmade installations that adorn the historic center: nativity scenes, themed illuminations, and creative displays crafted by local associations and volunteers. Strolling through the alleys, you will encounter picturesque corners, photo opportunities, and settings designed to amaze both adults and children. The installations remain visible every day, while on weekends and special dates, the village comes alive with shows and events.

Music, shows, and magic

The Parabilia calendar is packed with events: gospel concerts, roving street bands, bagpipers, fire and bubble shows, magic, a grand puppet circus, and concerts featuring famous cartoon soundtracks. There are also parades of Disney mascots and superheroes, face painting, and entertainment for the little ones, including the famous little train that travels through the town and the delivery of gifts by Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.

A Christmas of solidarity and community

Parabilia is also an opportunity for solidarity and engagement: initiatives like The Elves' Train and creative workshops bring together associations, local schools, the Confraternity of the Immaculate, and local volunteer groups. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Parabita together with the Pro Loco 1973 Parabita, with the support of local associations.
