A historic Veronese wine fair
The Palio del Recioto e dell'Amarone della Valpolicella Classica is a historic event held in the center of Negrar di Valpolicella, in the province of Verona, along Viale Giuseppe Mazzini and in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. Founded in the 1950s, it is one of the longest-running wine fairs in the region and celebrates the two great red wines that are symbols of the valley: Recioto, sweet and refined, and Amarone, powerful and structured.
Wineries, tastings, and awards
The heart of the event is the presence of about twenty wineries from Valpolicella Classica, offering tastings of their Recioto and Amarone labels. Along the route, you'll find food and wine stands with traditional Veronese dishes — risottos, Lessinia cheeses, and other specialties — and exhibition spaces. The program includes guided tastings, the evocative blessing of the Recioto, and the awards ceremony for the best wines in the competition.
Music, families, and the Cycling Grand Prix
Evenings are enlivened by live concerts and DJ sets, while during the day there are plenty of activities for families. The event concludes with a major sporting event: the Gran Premio Palio del Recioto, an international road cycling race for the Under-23 category valid for the UCI Europe Tour, held on the hills of Valpolicella. Organized by the Pro Loco of Negrar, the Palio combines wine, tradition, culture, and sport in one grand celebration of the territory.
Palio del Recioto and Amarone — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Palio del Recioto e dell'Amarone, the 72nd, takes place from April 4 to 7 in Negrar di Valpolicella, along Viale Giuseppe Mazzini and in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, with free admission. About twenty wineries present their Recioto and Amarone della Valpolicella Classica, alongside food and wine stands and exhibition spaces. The program includes guided tastings, cultural moments dedicated to wine, and initiatives to discover the Valpolicella landscape.

How to get there
Negrar di Valpolicella can be reached from Verona in about 20 minutes by car via the SP4. The fair takes place in the historic center, along Viale Giuseppe Mazzini and in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. Shuttle service available during the event.
