The feast of Saint Michael in the Ancient Village of Arcè, realm of the duck
The Festival of the Duck is the traditional festival of the hamlet of Arcè, in the municipality of Pescantina, in the province of Verona. It takes place at the end of September in honor of the patron saint Saint Michael the Archangel and owes its name to the anara, the duck, the absolute protagonist of the table and the gastronomic identity of the village.
The heart of the festival is the cuisine, with typical duck-based dishes: 'ràani e coi de anara' and the famous risotto with duck, served during the gastronomic Sundays and the festival evenings. Alongside traditional dishes, Oktoberfest evenings, live music, dancing, and cabaret shows liven up the Ancient Village for the entire duration of the event.
The festival is linked to the church of San Michele, a Romanesque building dating back to the 12th century and recently restored, around which the devotional life of the hamlet revolves. On Sundays, Mass in the church of San Michele is followed by a refreshment with 'ràani e coi de anara' and lunch with risotto, in a blend of faith and conviviality typical of Venetian festivals.
The Ancient Village of Arcè, along the Adige river at the entrance to Valpolicella, retains the authentic atmosphere of Veronese rural villages. The Festival of the Duck is an opportunity to discover a unique gastronomic tradition, far from the major tourist circuits, in the heart of one of Italy's most famous wine regions.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of the Duck is expected at the end of September in the Ancient Village of Arcè, on the occasion of the feast of the patron saint Saint Michael the Archangel. The festival will again feature gastronomic Sundays with risotto with duck and 'ràani e coi de anara', Oktoberfest evenings, live music, dancing, and cabaret shows. Mass in the church of San Michele opens the festival Sunday. The detailed program is published by the Committee closer to the event.
