The Patron Saint's Fair

The Ancient Saint Michael's Fair is held at the end of September in Calmasino, a hamlet of Bardolino, in the province of Verona. It is linked to the patron saint Saint Michael the Archangel and the ancient agricultural calendar: in the Veneto countryside, "doing Saint Michael" meant moving house, as land rental contracts expired on the saint's day.

Tractors, Bells, and Crafts of Yesteryear

The most characteristic event is the parade of vintage tractors with the blessing of agricultural machinery in Piazza San Michele, accompanied by bell concerts. The fair hosts exhibitions of ancient arts, crafts, and agricultural machinery, as well as cultural moments, astronomy, and entertainment for all ages.

Flavors of Tradition

The gastronomic offerings are rich, with mountain pasture gnocchi, tripe, stew with polenta, the traditional Fogàssa, and vegan options. It's an opportunity to rediscover the peasant dishes of the Veronese Garda in a village atmosphere.
