About Paesaggi Sonori

In Collepietro, a small village in the hinterland of L'Aquila, the Paesaggi Sonori festival kicks off its season every year with a sunset concert on the Sidera Collis Petri plateau, accessible only by a half-hour hike. Conceived by Massimo Stringini and Flavia Massimo, the festival weaves together singer-songwriter music, landscapes, and hiking, bringing Italian and international artists to the natural and historic sites of Abruzzo. An intimate, twilight experience under the stars, with views of the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountains.

Paesaggi Sonori in Collepietro

Paesaggi Sonori is a music and landscape festival that brings concerts into the natural areas and sites rich in history and cultural heritage of Abruzzo. In Collepietro, a village of a few hundred inhabitants in the hinterland of the Province of L'Aquila, the festival has found one of its recurring venues: the pastoral plateau of Sidera Collis Petri, which traditionally hosts the opening concert of the entire season.

A concert reached on foot

The festival's formula is as simple as it is radical: no urban stages, but places that must be earned by walking. From Collepietro, you hike up to the plateau in about half an hour, arriving just in time for sunset, when the music begins under a sky lighting up with stars. From up there, your gaze sweeps across the peaks of the Gran Sasso and Maiella, in one of the most evocative settings of the central Apennines.

The philosophy of the festival

Conceived by Massimo Stringini and Flavia Massimo, Paesaggi Sonori was born from the idea of enhancing Abruzzo's natural and cultural wonders through music, art, and the environment. The concerts have an intimate, twilight feel and are held in fortresses, plateaus, and archaeological sites reachable only on foot or by sustainable means. Each edition touches different municipalities in the region, from Collepietro to Barisciano, from Prata d'Ansidonia to Gessopalena, building a geography of slow and conscious listening.

Singer-songwriter music, international outlook

The programming favors research and singer-songwriter music, with a special focus on female voices and international artists: over the years, names from Scotland, Norway, Korea, Switzerland, and Africa have alternated alongside protagonists of the Italian scene. In Collepietro, the opening concert is designed as a threshold: the moment the festival begins and invites the audience to slow their pace.

A festival for the territory

More than just a calendar of events, Paesaggi Sonori is a community project involving local administrations, associations, and volunteers. For the Municipality of Collepietro, the event represents an opportunity for visibility and the revitalization of the village and its territory, in an area of inland Abruzzo that makes silence, landscape, and hiking its most authentic values.

Paesaggi Sonori — edition 2026

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Paesaggi Sonori festival opened its season in Collepietro, on the Sidera Collis Petri plateau, with a concert by the Swiss-Canadian singer-songwriter and visual artist Camilla Sparksss. The event started at 9:30 PM, following the customary hike, for an evening of music under the stars with views of the Gran Sasso and Maiella mountains, with free admission.

The 2026 edition of Paesaggi Sonori once again chose Collepietro for its opening concert. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 9:30 PM, the Sidera Collis Petri plateau hosted the Swiss-Canadian singer-songwriter, musician, and visual artist Camilla Sparksss, with a live performance designed for the sunset and the starry night.

As per tradition, the audience reached the concert site on foot, with a walk of about half an hour from the village, immersed in the landscape of the L'Aquila hinterland. Admission was free, in collaboration with the Municipality of Collepietro.
