The Easter market in the village of marble, in Val Venosta
In the heart of Val Venosta, the municipality of Laas (Lasa)—world-renowned as the "village of marble"—hosts its traditional Ostermarkt (Easter market) every Holy Saturday. The village square (Dorfplatz), located along Vinschgaustraße, comes alive for a full spring day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, transforming into a vibrant showcase of South Tyrolean craftsmanship and Easter traditions.
The initiative is organized by the Laas Merchants' Association (Kaufleute Laas) and local shopkeepers, who invite regional exhibitors to present their unique creations. Among the stalls, you will find handmade sewn items, crochet work, knitwear, homemade sweets and delicacies, unique woven pieces, and creative Easter and spring-themed decorations. It is the ideal opportunity to take home an authentic, handcrafted souvenir, far from mass-produced goods.
The market is part of the tradition of Easter markets found throughout South Tyrol (Südtirol), community gatherings that mark the arrival of the warmer season after the alpine winter. In Laas, framed by the peaks of Val Venosta and famous for its prized white marble, the day takes on a particularly welcoming atmosphere: in the afternoon, the town center shops remain open, allowing visitors to combine their market visit with a pleasant walk through the village streets.
The Ostermarkt is a free-entry event, perfect for families and anyone wishing to discover the hospitality of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano in an authentic setting. Those staying in the Silandro-Laas (Schlanders-Laas) holiday region can combine their visit to the market with exploring the valley's trails and landscapes, located in one of the sunniest areas of Trentino-South Tyrol.
