A night for Orvieto's sport
The OrvietoSport Award is the event with which the online publication OrvietoSport.it, which has been following the sporting events of the area since 2008, awards the best performances of the season each year. The ceremony is held in the evocative Expo Hall of the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, in the heart of the historic center of Orvieto, in the Province of Terni.
The awards
The highlight of the evening is the awarding of the Team of the Year, accompanied by numerous special mentions for athletes and clubs that have distinguished themselves in their respective disciplines. Two memorial awards give the ceremony particular value: the "Giulio Ladi" Plaque, dedicated to sports journalists and communication operators, and the "Valeria Gribaudo" Plaque, reserved for youth sector coaches, particularly in minibasketball.
Patronage and collaborations
The event enjoys the patronage of the Sports Department of the Municipality of Orvieto and the collaboration of the Club Amici della Stampa association, with the support of the Order of Journalists of Umbria and the Italian Sports Press Union. It is a moment that intertwines sport, journalism, and community, capturing a year of Orvieto's sporting passion.
OrvietoSport Award — edition 2026
The 17th edition of the OrvietoSport Award took place on Saturday, May 16, 2026, starting at 5 PM, in the Expo Hall of the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo. The evening was hosted by journalists Marco Gobbino and Luisa Calistri, in the presence of Mayor Roberta Tardani and Sports Councilor Piergiorgio Pizzo.
The Team of the Year award went to UISP Scherma Orvieto, recognized for their promotion to Serie B. The special memorial plaques were also awarded: the "Giulio Ladi" for sports communication and the "Valeria Gribaudo" for youth sector coaches.

How to get there
Orvieto is on the Rome-Florence railway line; from Orvieto Scalo station, the funicular reaches the historic center. By car, take the Orvieto exit from the A1 motorway.
