Over forty days of Christmas on the cliff
Give Orvieto for Christmas is the major Christmas event promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Orvieto, in the province of Terni. For over forty days, from the end of November until Epiphany, the entire city on the cliff lights up with decorations, markets, nativity scenes, and cultural events.
The focal point is Piazza della Repubblica, where the Christmas market and the ice skating rink open. On the facades of the historic center, the Magical Palaces come to life โ spectacular video projections that transform buildings into luminous scenographies, while in Piazza Duomo, the large tree at the foot of the famous cathedral is lit up.
Among the most beloved traditions is the Nativity Scene Circuit, with over thirty artisanal representations spread across palaces, churches, and neighborhoods. The evocative Nativity Scene in the Pozzo della Cava stands out, set up in the Etruscan and medieval caves of the city, alongside the living nativity scene in the medieval quarter and the representation in the hamlet of Sugano.
The program intertwines classical and jazz music concerts โ with Umbria Jazz Winter between late December and early January โ theater, literary encounters, and many activities for children and families: creative workshops, theatrical tours, treasure hunts, and Santa's Village. A Christmas that makes Orvieto one of Umbria's most magical destinations.
The tenth edition of Give Orvieto for Christmas is planned from November 27, 2026, to January 6, 2027, according to the event calendar of the Municipality of Orvieto.
As tradition dictates, the historic center will host the Christmas market and the ice skating rink in Piazza della Repubblica for over forty days, the Magical Palaces video projections, the large Christmas tree in Piazza Duomo, the Nativity Scene Circuit with the Nativity Scene in the Pozzo della Cava, and a rich program of concerts, cultural events, and family activities.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Municipality of Orvieto in the weeks leading up to the event. The festival will develop, as in previous editions, around:
