The international short film festival made in Umbria
The Orvieto Cinema Fest is the first international short film festival born in Umbria. Set in the evocative city on the cliff, in the Province of Terni, it brings directors and works from dozens of countries to Orvieto every year, transforming the historic Teatro Mancinelli into an international cinema hall.
The festival features short films from all over the planet, with national premieres and a selection that values different languages and perspectives. An international jury composed of film professionals awards the prizes, while the evenings at the Teatro Mancinelli offer the public an overview of the best of contemporary short film production.
Alongside the main competition, the Nuove Visioni section is dedicated to emerging Italian talents: short films that open the evenings at the theatre and become masterclasses for high school students in the city. The festival also offers screenings in the library, activities for children, and collateral exhibitions, confirming itself as a cultural event that involves the entire community of Orvieto.
The 9th edition of the Orvieto Cinema Fest returns from September 23rd to 27th, 2026, at the historic Teatro Mancinelli. The international short film competition is complemented by the Nuove Visioni section, featuring five films by emerging Italian talents that open the evenings at the theatre and serve as masterclasses for the city's high schools.
The program also includes initiatives at the municipal library and an exhibition hosted in the Church of Santi Apostoli Filippo e Giacomo. All events are free.
The detailed program of screenings and guests will be announced by the organization in the weeks preceding the event.
