About Orvieto Cinema Fest

Orvieto Cinema Fest is the first international short film festival born in Umbria. Every September, the magical setting of Orvieto's medieval cliff welcomes directors from all over the world for a competition dedicated to short films. Screenings are held in the historic Teatro Mancinelli and are accompanied by special sections such as Nuove Visioni, dedicated to emerging Italian talents, exhibitions, masterclasses, and activities for schools. All events are free admission.

Short films in the heart of Umbria

The Orvieto Cinema Fest is the first international short film festival born in Umbria. Set in the evocative city on the cliff, in the Province of Terni, it brings directors and works from dozens of countries to Orvieto every year, transforming the historic Teatro Mancinelli into an international cinema hall.

A competition open to the world

The festival features short films from all over the planet, with national premieres and a selection that values different languages and perspectives. An international jury composed of film professionals awards the prizes, while the evenings at the Teatro Mancinelli offer the public an overview of the best of contemporary short film production.

Nuove Visioni and activities for schools

Alongside the main competition, the Nuove Visioni section is dedicated to emerging Italian talents: short films that open the evenings at the theatre and become masterclasses for high school students in the city. The festival also offers screenings in the library, activities for children, and collateral exhibitions, confirming itself as a cultural event that involves the entire community of Orvieto.

Orvieto Cinema Fest — edition 2026

The ninth edition of the Orvieto Cinema Fest takes place from September 23rd to 27th, 2026, at the Teatro Mancinelli. International short films in competition, the new Nuove Visioni section dedicated to emerging Italian directors, masterclasses for schools, library initiatives, and a collateral exhibition. Free admission to all events.
