The traditional Irish music festival among the medieval buildings of Orvieto
The Orvieto Irish Fleadh is the festival that brings traditional Irish music to the heart of Umbria. The "fleadh" — a Gaelic term meaning a musical gathering — chooses Orvieto, in the Province of Terni, as the venue for an event that intertwines concerts, informal sessions, dance, and Celtic culture among its medieval buildings.
The pulsating heart of the festival are the free music sessions in the venues of the historic centre, where professional musicians and enthusiasts play together informally, according to the most authentic Irish tradition. The main concerts are held at the Teatro Mancinelli and the Teatro del Carmine, while traditional music and dance workshops liven up the city's spaces. There are also cultural talks, dedicated to exploring the roots and vitality of Celtic culture.
The festival attracts musicians directly from Ireland and Brittany, with historical venues including the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo and the "Adriano Casasole" Music School. For the Municipality of Orvieto, the Irish Fleadh is an opportunity to engage with Celtic Europe and to offer residents and visitors a total immersion in the sounds and dances of Ireland.
The 2nd edition of the Orvieto Irish Fleadh returns from October 1st to 4th, 2026, in the historic centre of Orvieto. The festival features traditional Irish and Breton music, with free music sessions in the city's venues, concerts at the Teatro Mancinelli and Teatro del Carmine, traditional music and dance workshops, and cultural talks.
The event also uses the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo and the "Adriano Casasole" Music School as venues, and hosts musicians coming directly from Ireland and Brittany.
The detailed programme with artists from Ireland and Brittany and concert times will be published on the official website in the weeks preceding the event.
