Ortona's long summer night

The Ortona White Night is one of the most anticipated and popular events of the summer in the town of Ortona, perched on the Adriatic coast in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. For one full night, the historic center transforms into a massive open-air stage: the main squares and streets of the village fill with lights, music, shows, and local flavors, creating a festive atmosphere that engages both residents and tourists from 8:00 PM until dawn.

A city that never sleeps

The concept of the White Night is simple yet brilliant: dozens of simultaneous events are spread across different corners of the city, allowing everyone to craft their own itinerary between concerts and markets, food stalls and children's shows. The central squares (Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza degli Eroi Canadesi, Piazza San Tommaso, Piazza del Teatro, Largo Farnese) and the main shopping streets (Via della Libertà, Via Cavour) each become a mini-festival, with the Passeggiata Orientale serving as a scenic balcony over the sea.

Music, shows, and tradition

The program spans diverse genres and audiences: live concerts (swing, rock 'n' roll, Neapolitan and traditional music), DJ sets for younger crowds, group dances, street performances, entertainment and workshops for children, as well as antique and craft markets. There is no shortage of food stalls featuring typical Abruzzese products and fresh Adriatic fish, the heart of Ortona's maritime culture.

A free, city-wide event

The White Night is organized by the Municipality of Ortona in collaboration with the local community, and is part of the official 'Estate Ortonese' summer calendar. Admission to all activities is free. This 'diffused' format allows visitors to experience the city in a new way, strolling through its historic streets overlooking the sea during one of the longest and liveliest nights of the year in Abruzzo.
