OrtoGiardinoVino e Dispensa: A Spring Celebration in Motta di Costigliole d'Asti

Every April, the village of Motta di Costigliole d'Asti, nestled in the heart of the Monferrato area in the province of Asti, transforms into a vibrant showcase of greenery, local flavors, and Piedmontese traditions. OrtoGiardinoVino e Dispensa is one of the most beloved and long-standing events in the Asti region; established in the early 2000s, it has now reached a quarter-century of history, drawing over 10,000 visitors from all over Piedmont each year.

One of Monferrato's Premier Flower and Plant Shows

The core of the event is the major flower and plant exhibition held on Sunday. Throughout the village streets and the Palafiori area, visitors can admire and purchase indoor and garden plants, rustic and collector varieties, aromatic herbs, and gardening equipment. Alongside the nurserymen, exhibitors of artistic crafts and local agri-food excellence gather for a market day that blends nature, taste, and local expertise.

Food Stands and Dance Evenings

The soul of the festival is also the food stand set up at the Palafiori, near the A. Ferretti Sports Field, where guests can enjoy authentic Piedmontese cuisine: homemade appetizers, gnocchi and ravioli, traditional main courses, and the unmissable fried frogs, which have always been one of the festival's most sought-after specialties. Dinners are accompanied by dance evenings with live orchestras, making Motta a true community gathering point.

Bands, Flag-Throwers, and Community Spirit

The program also includes entertainment and local festivities, such as performances by the Complesso Bandistico Costigliolese and the "Gli Alfieri" flag-throwers and musicians of Costigliole d'Asti, as well as afternoon shows organized by local schools. This event is organized by the Municipality of Costigliole d'Asti in collaboration with the Pro Loco Motta. With free admission, it has spent twenty-five years showcasing the welcoming spirit of the Monferrato Astigiano.
