The major floral and nursery market exhibition in Carmagnola
Ortoflora & Natura is the spring highlight of the Municipality of Carmagnola, in the province of Turin, in the heart of Piedmont. Established in 1990, this market exhibition dedicated to floriculture and horticulture has grown into one of the most anticipated green events in the region, attracting thousands of visitors over an entire weekend. The event is organized by the Municipality of Carmagnola in collaboration with the Pro Loco, under the patronage of the Piedmont Region and the Metropolitan City of Turin.
The green heart of the event beats in the Castle Gardens and the Unità d'Italia Gardens, where nursery stands featuring plants, flowers, garden furniture, and equipment are concentrated. The festival then extends into the historic center, along Via Silvio Pellico, Viale Garibaldi, and the town squares, enlivening Carmagnola with markets, art exhibitions in historic buildings, and street performances.
Every year, the event brings together over one hundred exhibitors from not only Piedmont but also Liguria, Lombardy, and Sicily. Visitors can admire and purchase rare plants, seasonal flowers, aromatic herbs, vegetables, and all the gardening essentials, with the opportunity to consult directly with nurserymen and industry specialists.
Ortoflora & Natura is not just a plant fair; it is a festival for the whole family. Among the most popular offerings are:
Carmagnola is famous throughout Piedmont for its pepper, the town's symbolic product. Each year, Ortoflora & Natura relaunches the amateur "Urban Pepper" contest, a friendly organic cultivation challenge open to both consortium producers and citizens who wish to grow the vegetable on their balcony or in their garden.
Admission to all areas of the event is completely free, making Ortoflora & Natura an ideal outing for families, gardening enthusiasts, and curious visitors looking to spend a day outdoors surrounded by nature, art, and the flavors of the Piedmont region.
The 36th edition of Ortoflora & Natura, titled "The Gardens of the Arts," was held on April 11 and 12, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM with free admission. In the Castle Gardens and the Unità d'Italia Gardens, exhibitors offered plants and flowers, while the historic center hosted children's workshops (terrariums, lavender soaps, basket weaving), theatrical and musical performances, a giant chessboard, art exhibitions in historic buildings, and the unmissable bird of prey flight demonstration on Sunday afternoon. Among the novelties were the fifth edition of the "Urban Pepper" contest and the "From Flower to Flower" gravel bike ride starting from Turin.
Hours: Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12, from 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Edition theme: "The Gardens of the Arts."
