In Villa Literno, a town in the Agro Aversano area of Caserta, the tomato is more than just a crop; it is the economic and social backbone of the entire community. Local records suggest that nearly 1,400 hectares of the surrounding countryside are dedicated to tomato farming, a vocation that inspired the festival's name. The Oro Rosso Summer Festival is the annual July celebration that brings this local treasure from the fields to the heart of town life.

Four days at the Stadio Comunale

The event is held at the Stadio Comunale Vincenzo Tavoletta on Via Castello, a spacious venue that transforms for a few nights into a concert arena, dining area, and meeting place for thousands. The formula follows the tradition of great Campanian popular festivals: a central stage with live music until late, food stalls run by local producers and vendors, and attractions for families and children.

The 2026 program, night by night

The 2026 edition took place from Thursday, July 9th to Sunday, July 12th, with each evening featuring a different artist or ensemble:

• Thursday, July 9th — Opening night with the Generale Street Band and their Vasco Rossi tribute, «Un'emozione per sempre».
• Friday, July 10th — A rhythmic night featuring Peppe Salerno, a b2b DJ set by Tony Amatore, and a concert by Samurai Jay.
• Saturday, July 11th — Performance by Neri per Caso, the renowned a cappella vocal group from Salerno.
• Sunday, July 12th — Closing night with a concert by Clara, one of the most popular voices of recent years, accompanied by Dipinto.

Dining: tomatoes and Campanian cuisine

The festival's culinary heart revolves around the local Literno tomato, featured in traditional peasant recipes and classic regional dishes. Stalls offer pizza, sandwiches, fried snacks, dairy products, desserts, and fresh seasonal fruit, paired with drinks and craft beers. It is the perfect way to showcase the work of local producers, whom the Oro Rosso Association connects with consumers through this event.

A festival that has grown over the years

The event is organized by the Associazione Oro Rosso, founded to boost the local economy and promote the area's agricultural excellence. By 2023, the festival had already reached its sixth edition, featuring five nights of entertainment with guests like Fatima Trotta, Peppe Iodice, Andrea Sannino, LDA, and Loredana Bertè. The festival has continued to expand, with Franco Ricciardi appearing in 2024 and three nights dedicated to contemporary Neapolitan music in 2025. Beyond the Summer Festival, the association promotes various local initiatives throughout the year, from conferences to patronal feasts.
