About Organalia in Mathi

Organalia is the historic Piedmontese festival dedicated to organ music, celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2026. The Mathi stage, held in the Parish Church of San Mauro Abate, brings a prestigious concert to the Ciriacese area, featuring the magnificent 2010 Renzo Rosso organ. This free event combines the excellence of organ art with the sacred and musical heritage of the Metropolitan City of Turin, showcasing a local instrument and introducing audiences—including younger listeners—to a fascinating and rarely heard repertoire.

Organalia: twenty-five years of organ music in Piedmont

Organalia is the festival that has been traveling across Piedmont since 2002 to rediscover and promote the region's rich organ heritage. Reaching its twenty-fifth edition in 2026, the event offers a long season of concerts from May to October, visiting churches, basilicas, and sanctuaries throughout the Metropolitan City of Turin, blending great music with the preservation of historic instruments. The stage held in the municipality of Mathi, in the heart of the Ciriacese, is one of the most cherished appointments of the festival.

The concert in the Church of San Mauro Abate

The Mathi concert takes place in the Parish Church of San Mauro Abate, on Via Parrocchia, which houses a fine 2010 Renzo Rosso organ. The instrument, though of recent construction, boasts great tonal quality, offering the listener a sonic palette ideal for exploring diverse repertoires, from Baroque to more modern works. The intimate acoustics of the parish church create a suggestive atmosphere, perfect for listening to organ music.

An event for everyone, including the young

Among the distinctive features of the Mathi stage is the attention paid to younger audiences: the program proposed within the framework of Organalia has frequently explored ways to introduce children to the organ and organ music through educational activities and storytelling moments that accompany the listening experience. It is a concrete way to pass on a passion for an instrument that is often little known, yet capable of moving both adults and children, to new generations.

A heritage to be preserved

Promoted by the Municipality of Mathi in collaboration with the artistic direction of Organalia, the concert is part of the festival's mission: to raise awareness of the historic and modern organs of the Piedmontese territory, supporting their study and care. The festival enjoys the support of the Metropolitan City of Turin and numerous local administrations, and has become a reference point for sacred and organ music enthusiasts throughout the region.
