Visits to the historic estate and the ArteVino Museum in the heart of Monferrato
The Tenuta Castello di Razzano is located in Alfiano Natta, a small town in the province of Alessandria in the heart of Casale Monferrato, Piedmont. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when the site was a fortress belonging to the Natta family; in 1697, it was rebuilt by the Caligaris family, taking on the appearance of the noble residence that still characterizes the complex today. Since 1968, the property has been owned by the Olearo family, who transformed it into a wine estate and hospitality venue while preserving the site's historic identity.
Castello di Razzano participates in Castelli Aperti, the historic festival that has accompanied spring and summer in Piedmont for over thirty years by opening castles, villas, gardens, towers, and museums across all the region's provinces to the public. On each festival day, dozens of historic homes open their doors simultaneously, offering guided tours, special openings, and cultural itineraries designed for a wide and curious audience.
The heart of the visit to Razzano is the ArteVino Museum, set within the restored castle: a journey that intertwines wine culture with the farming traditions of Monferrato and hosts works by local artists dedicated to the territory. The visit continues into the 17th-century historic cellars, still used for aging the estate's wines. Visitors can freely explore the exhibition areas and soak up the atmosphere of a place where history and viticulture have coexisted for centuries.
The estate is more than just a museum: it includes a relais, a restaurant serving Monferrato cuisine, an on-site winery, and a panoramic pool overlooking the vineyards. The Olearo family has been producing wine since 1927 across three estates, of which Castello di Razzano is the most iconic for visitors. You can pair your visit with a tasting of Monferrato wines, one of the most renowned wine-growing areas in Piedmont.
