Free screenings under the stars in the Filanda courtyard, Monesiglio
When the warm season arrives, the courtyard of the Marela Biblioteca Civica "Maria Tarditi", located in the restored ancient Filanda of Monesiglio, transforms into a small open-air arena. It is here that the Parco Culturale Alta Langa organizes its open-air cinema series, a set of free evening screenings designed to bring the community and visitors together around the big screen, with the hills of the Val Bormida as a backdrop.
The series features iconic films that have made cinema history, presented in their original language with subtitles. It begins with Nuovo Cinema Paradiso by Giuseppe Tornatore, the poignant tribute to the local village cinema and the love for the big screen that gives the initiative its name, screened in its original language with English subtitles. It continues with Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino, in its original language with Italian subtitles: two very different classics, united by a passion for the seventh art.
Screenings begin at dusk, around 8:30 PM. The organizers provide a limited number of seats, but we recommend bringing chairs, blankets, or throws from home to enjoy the evening in total comfort. For those who arrive early, there is complimentary popcorn, while the Filanda bar remains open for drinks and snacks. It is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Alta Langa and experience cinema in a way that differs from the usual theater.
We are in Monesiglio, a small village in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont, nestled in the Bormida valley at the foot of its castle. The Parco Culturale Alta Langa is an association that works to promote the Alta Langa territory—from history and literature to architecture and food and wine—combating the marginalization of small towns through events, experiences, and training activities. The open-air cinema is one of the cornerstones of this project: accessible, free, and community-focused culture.
Two free evenings in the courtyard of the Marela Biblioteca Civica, inside the ancient Filanda of Monesiglio, starting at dusk (around 8:30 PM):
Popcorn was offered to those who arrived early, drinks were available for purchase at the Filanda bar, and seating was limited: spectators were advised to bring their own chairs, blankets, or throws. An initiative by the Parco Culturale Alta Langa, designed to experience great cinema in the open air in the heart of the Val Bormida.
Screenings began at dusk. Free admission.
