Open-air art exhibition in the village of Gudon

Every summer, for just one day, the village of Gudon (Gufidaun in German) becomes the stage for Open Air Art Gufidaun, an open-air art exhibition that brings contemporary art among the houses, alleys, and courtyards of one of the most characteristic villages in the Isarco Valley. Gudon is a hamlet of the municipality of Chiusa (Klausen), in the autonomous province of Bolzano, in the heart of South Tyrol, nestled at an altitude of 734 meters on a gentle hilly landscape known as "the village of the seven hills."
The event brings together about thirty artists who exhibit paintings, sculptures, and photographs in chosen spots throughout the village: every view, from the small square around the church of San Martino to the stone walls of the old houses, becomes the ideal frame for the works. Visitors can stroll freely through the village streets, discovering art in dialogue with historical architecture and the backdrop of the Dolomites.
The day is accompanied by live music from the group Titlá and culinary specialties prepared by local associations and served in local venues, all paired with a good glass of South Tyrolean wine. During the event, the Gudon Museum, housed in the "Pfleghaus," remains open, showcasing local history and traditions. A creative workshop is also available for children.
Gudon preserves a remarkable historical heritage: the church of San Martino with 15th-century frescoes, the Summersberg castle, and the 14th-century Koburg manor house all testify to a settlement history spanning millennia. This setting makes Open Air Art Gufidaun much more than just an exhibition: it is an invitation to discover an authentic corner of South Tyrol, where art, nature, and folk culture meet in a setting of rare beauty.
Admission to the event is free and suitable for the whole family. The event is usually held in July; dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced.
