Live music, cinema, and cultural encounters in the hills of Guardistallo, Pisa
OOOMH – Out of Ordinary Music Hills is an event that brings the village of Guardistallo, in the province of Pisa, to life in the heart of the maritime Tuscany hills. Conceived by musician Antonio Aiazzi, the legendary keyboardist of Litfiba, the festival offers an original format that blends live music, cinema, and moments of cultural reflection, highlighting a corner of the Val di Cecina that is far from the mainstream circuit yet rich in landscape and identity.
The soul of OOOMH lies in its hybrid nature: it is not just a concert lineup, but a blend of live performances, screenings, and conversations with authors, directors, and artists. The evenings are split between the intimate Teatro Marchionneschi, dedicated to music-themed cinema and discussions, and the village's Area Sagre, which hosts open-air concerts in a convivial, free-entry atmosphere.
The festival primarily highlights bands and singer-songwriters from the Tuscan and Italian independent scene, alternating between emerging names and established artists. Past editions have featured indie rock, folk, and grunge groups, alongside prominent guests such as Piero Pelù, Gianni Maroccolo, and Bruno Casini, historic voices of the Florentine and national music scene.
OOOMH is about more than just music: during the days, the public can enjoy food and drink and meeting opportunities that turn the festival into a community celebration, capable of uniting different generations. The choice of Guardistallo, a small municipality overlooking the hills between Cecina and the coast, underscores the project's commitment to bringing contemporary culture into small villages, intertwining entertainment, original sounds, and landscape appreciation.
For 2026, OOOMH confirmed its two-day format. Friday, May 29, at the Teatro Marchionneschi, featured an evening of music-themed cinema and dialogues with the screening of Rumore dentro, introduced by Piero Pelù, and Uscivamo molto la notte, presented by Bruno Casini, with a soundtrack by Antonio Aiazzi and Gianni Maroccolo. Saturday, May 30, the Area Sagre hosted free live music with Mr. Bison, Sayst, Mrs. Lemon, and Kamiare, followed by a closing DJ set.
Guardistallo is located in the hills of the province of Pisa, in the hinterland of the Val di Cecina. By car, it can be reached from the SS1 Aurelia highway by taking the Cecina exit and continuing inland; the village is just a few kilometers from the Tyrrhenian coast. The nearest train station is in Cecina, on the Pisa–Rome line, from which you can continue by car or bus.
Live music concerts at the Area Sagre are free of charge. Cinema events and talks at the Teatro Marchionneschi may require ticket pre-booking on dedicated platforms. It is recommended to check the program and updated procedures on the festival's official channels.
Food and drink stalls are available during the evenings. It is advisable to arrive a little early to enjoy the village and the hilly landscape at sunset.
