The photographic exhibition of Casa Toschi in the OFF Circuit of European Photography, in Baiso
In Baiso, a small municipality in the Province of Reggio Emilia nestled in the hills of the Emilian Apennines, the historic residence of Casa Toschi becomes an exhibition space dedicated to author photography for a few weeks. "Ombre dell'anima in movimento" is a collective exhibition included in the OFF Circuit of European Photography, the independent section of the major Reggio festival that transforms the territory into a widespread map of exhibitions each year.
The title of the exhibition arises from the dialogue with the theme of the European Photography edition, "Ghosts of the everyday". The three authors on display explore movement from different and complementary perspectives: Enrico Rossi investigates the world of music, dance, and circus, capturing the energy of the gesture with the "motion blur" technique; Alfredo Anceschi captures the strength and lightness of dance; Andrea Frassinetti turns his gaze to the nature of the Apennines, transforming flowers and natural elements into artistic subjects.
The large photographic prints dialogue with poems, aphorisms, and literary texts, in a curated display that intertwines image and word, guiding the visitor on an emotional, not just visual, journey.
The exhibition finds its home in the spaces of Casa Toschi, the birthplace of the traveling photographer Giovanni Battista Toschi, now a house museum managed by the Associazione La Tavola di Bisanzio. The venue, recovered and enhanced in recent years, has become a cultural reference point for Baiso and the entire Reggio Emilia Apennines, capable of uniting historical memory and contemporary languages.
Alongside the exhibition, the Scientific Committee of La Tavola di Bisanzio offers a rich program of educational activities for local schools: "Light and Shadows" workshops for younger children, meetings with photographers for middle school students, and discussions on the language of images. Photography thus becomes a tool for discovery and growth, in line with the participatory ethos of the OFF Circuit.
The exhibition enjoys the patronage of the Municipality of Baiso, the Province of Reggio Emilia, and the Emilia-Romagna Region, with the support of local sponsors and entities.
The exhibition is open from April 30 to June 14, 2026 at Casa Toschi, in Baiso (Reggio Emilia), as part of the OFF Circuit of European Photography, the edition dedicated to the theme "Ghosts of the everyday".
The protagonists are three photographers who interpret movement from different angles: the music, dance, and circus of Enrico Rossi, the energy of dance by Alfredo Anceschi, and the nature of the Apennines by Andrea Frassinetti. The display combines large-format images with poems and literary texts.
The edition is distinguished by its strong educational focus, with workshops and meetings designed for different school age groups in the area.
