New oil, bruschetta, and the historical procession in the medieval village of Montecchio
The Oil Festival of Montecchio is one of the most cherished autumn events in the province of Terni and one of the longest-running festivals dedicated to new oil in Umbria. Every November, the medieval village celebrates the freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil, the fruit of a region devoted to olive growing.
During the festival days, the historic center comes alive with free tastings of bruschetta and new oil, food stalls, oil mills, and markets from local producers. The event maintains a strong connection with peasant culture, as evidenced by the historical procession and the traditional blessing of tractors.
The days are marked by performances from the historic Santa Cecilia Band of Montecchio and the efforts of the Pro Loco, which organizes the event by promoting the culinary and identity traditions of the town.
The 2026 edition of the Oil Festival returns to Montecchio from November 20 to 22, dedicated to freshly pressed extra virgin olive oil.
In the medieval village, there will be alternating free tastings of bruschetta and new oil, food stalls, local producer markets, the historical procession, the blessing of tractors, and performances by the historic Santa Cecilia Band.
Detailed hourly program will be released by Pro Loco Montecchio closer to the event.
