A concert by the La Filarmonica Band for the Music Festival in the heart of Monferrato
Every year, for the Music Festival, the Municipality of Occimiano opens the doors of its main square for an evening entirely dedicated to live music. The event takes place in Piazza Carlo Alberto, in the center of this small town in the province of Alessandria, in the heart of the Piedmontese Monferrato, and is part of the grand national calendar of the Music Festival that brings thousands of places across Italy and Europe to life every June 21st.
The beating heart of the event is the La Filarmonica Band of Occimiano, one of the longest-running musical groups in the region. Founded in 1903, the band has spanned over a century of history, accompanying the town's civil and religious occasions, from patronal processions to local anniversaries. Today, it boasts numerous musicians of all ages and has its own music school, which ensures generational turnover and passes on a band tradition deeply rooted in the community.
The Music Festival concert is a moment designed for the entire community: a free, open-air occasion where families, enthusiasts, and curious visitors gather in the square to listen to the band's repertoire. The ensemble performs pieces ranging from classical band music to marches, as well as more popular and lighthearted tunes, in a program capable of engaging audiences of all ages.
Located among the hills of Monferrato, a land of wines and farming traditions recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, Occimiano guards a strong sense of community that is also expressed through its musical events. The Music Festival represents one of these identity-defining moments: not a large festival, but an authentic village event capable of restoring the value of music as a social and cultural glue for the territory.
The 2026 edition of the Music Festival in Occimiano will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, in Piazza Carlo Alberto, in the town center. The Municipality of Occimiano, in collaboration with the La Filarmonica Band of Occimiano, will celebrate the occasion with a concert open to the entire community.
The evening features live music with the aim of highlighting the band's contribution to local cultural life and offering a convivial moment to mark the arrival of summer. Admission is free.
The detailed musical program has not been released by the organizers; the evening will feature the band's repertoire, which has been established since 1903.
