The Nova Summer Fest, the electronic night of Irpinia

The Nova Summer Fest — also announced by organizers as Nova Summer Season — is the electronic music event that enlivens Santo Stefano del Sole, a small town in the province of Avellino, in Campania, during the summer. The evening takes place in Località dell'Angelo, an open-air space on the outskirts of the town that transforms into a dance floor under the stars for one night. The local press has described it as one of the crucial summer clubbing events in Southern Italy: a remarkable ambition for a village of a few thousand inhabitants, but consistent with the choice to focus on artists from underground circuits rather than chart-topping names.

What to expect from the evening

The format is that of a one-night festival: a single day, one large stage, and a continuous succession of DJ sets designed to keep the energy high. Attendees do not find a traditional concert, but what the promoters themselves define as «a journey into sound», where groove, technique, and musical research count for more than stage effects. The sounds move between house and contemporary electronic music, with an international flair guaranteed by the presence of a foreign guest. The promised experience is that of a continuous, powerful, and highly innovative flow of sound.

The 2026 edition program

The 2026 edition was held on Sunday, July 19. The following artists took turns at the console:

• Antonio Romano, a guest DJ with a solid track record;
• Mvstantuoni, one of the most recognizable names in the local electronic scene;
• Offbabe, with a style now well-defined in underground circuits;
• an international guest star from the Netherlands, whose name was kept strictly secret until the eve of the event.

The choice not to reveal the headliner was part of the communication strategy: in press releases, the Dutch artist was presented as a figure capable of combining intellectual honesty, a balance between tradition and innovation, and extraordinary determination. A way to build anticipation and reiterate that the music, rather than the name on the poster, is the focus of the evening.

An event designed for young people

The Nova Summer Fest was born with a goal declared by the municipal administration: to provide space, music, and entertainment for the young people of the town and neighboring municipalities. In an inland area of Campania where nightlife options are limited and often force young people to travel to Naples or the coast, an event of this kind has a value that goes beyond a single night: it is a way to keep a generation in town, at least for one night, that would otherwise look elsewhere. It is no coincidence that Mayor Gerardo Santoli explained that the summer calendar aims to combine «the freshness of the new generations» with the greatness of local cultural tradition.

Inside the «Vivi Santo Stefano» calendar

The evening is part of Vivi Santo Stefano 2026, the municipal summer calendar that runs from June to September and alternates music, religious tradition, sports, and gastronomy. Alongside the Nova Summer Fest, the program includes, among other things:

• summer tournaments and the recreational center for children, active from July 1 to August 7;
• the cherry festival organized by the Pro Loco at the end of June;
• the celebrations of Saint Joseph in the Sozze area, on July 11 and 12;
• the sunset concert by Peppe Barra, on July 26, promoted with Confimprenditori;
• the celebrations of Saint Stephen the Protomartyr on August 2 and 3;
• SoleArte, on August 17 and 18, organized by the Pro Loco;
• the celebrations of Saint Vitus the Martyr from August 26 to 30;
• the «Alfredo Mazza» Memorial, a vintage car rally on September 20.

Santo Stefano del Sole, between Irpinia and Partenio

Santo Stefano del Sole is a hillside town a few kilometers from Avellino, in that part of Irpinia where the woods of the Partenio meet vineyards and hazelnut groves. It is a territory visited for its landscape, good food, and a dense network of festivals and patronal feasts; much less so for its nightlife. For this very reason, the Nova Summer Fest represents an exception in the landscape of Campanian events: it brings a language — that of club culture — into a rural context that usually remains confined to large cities or the coast. For those visiting Irpinia in July, it is an opportunity to see a different, younger face of inland Campania.
