Three nights of music, street food, and Holi Color in the heart of the Tuscia region
When August hits its stride, Canino dresses up in color. Notte a Colori has become one of the most beloved summer events in this small town in the Province of Viterbo, nestled in the heart of the Tuscia and Maremma laziale regions. For three consecutive nights, the village comes alive with music, shows, markets, and street food, drawing families, young people, and visitors from neighboring towns.
The festival's core is simple, heartfelt popular entertainment. The evenings are divided between 90s musical tributes, live shows, and DJ sets that keep the squares dancing until late. The most spectacular moment is the famous Holi Color, an Indian-inspired festival of colors where explosions of colored powders transform the square into a giant, living rainbow: a joyful and liberating ritual that has become the event's signature.
Notte a Colori is also an opportunity to discover local flavors. Alongside street food stands serving sausage, porchetta, and Maremma specialties, there is plenty of the prized Canino PDO extra virgin olive oil, one of the iconic products of this land of olive groves. Social dinners organized by local associations, such as the San Clemente Association, combine good food with village conviviality.
The program is designed for all ages: craft markets, a dedicated children's area, entertainment, and roving performances accompany every evening. The festival takes place across the town's iconic spots, from Piazzale San Francesco d'Assisi, in front of the former Farnese Convent, to the municipal swimming pool and the historic center.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Canino with the support of the Municipality of Canino, Notte a Colori is part of a rich summer calendar that also includes the historic Olive Festival and the Asparagus Festival, events that reflect the agricultural and social identity of this corner of Lazio. Attending means experiencing the authenticity of a village festival, where the community opens its squares to anyone looking for color, music, and joy.
Notte a Colori 2026 returns to light up the summer in Canino, in the Province of Viterbo. The event's return is confirmed by the Municipality of Canino, which has published the public notice for the full organization of the festival alongside other major summer events in the town. The festival is expected, as per tradition, in the month of August.
Exact dates and the detailed program have not yet been released at the time of publication. Check back to discover the schedule, artists, and evening details as soon as the Pro Loco of Canino and the Municipality announce the full calendar.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published. The Municipality of Canino has confirmed the event's occurrence via public notice; precise dates, artists, and times will be communicated in the weeks leading up to the event.
Following the tradition of previous editions, the festival will feature multiple nights of free access, including music, shows, craft markets, a children's area, street food, and the traditional Holi Color with its explosions of colored powder.
The festival's signature moments are expected again this year: the open-air musical evenings and the spectacular Holi Color that turns the square into a living rainbow.
Canino (VT), Lazio. The evenings take place mainly in Piazzale San Francesco d'Assisi, at the municipal swimming pool, and in the town's historic center.
By car: from Viterbo, you can reach Canino in about 40 minutes via the SS Cassia and the provincial roads of Tuscia; from the A12, take the Montalto di Castro exit, then head inland. The nearest train station is Montalto di Castro on the Tyrrhenian line, from where you can continue by car or local transport.
The festival is traditionally free to enter; food and drinks at the stalls and street food vendors are for purchase.
For the Holi Color, it is recommended to wear clothes that can get dirty with colored powders. The evenings are outdoors: bring something comfortable for the night.
