Free concerts under the stars in the park of Villa Fondi de Sangro, featuring the traditional Ferragosto dawn concert
Note di Stelle at Villa Fondi is the summer music festival of Piano di Sorrento, a town in the Metropolitan City of Naples, in Campania. Launched in 2024 as part of the municipal Estate Blu program, it is curated by singer and researcher Fiorenza Calogero, a leading voice in Campanian folk music. The formula is simple and successful: a series of intimate evenings, all with free admission, in a setting that is a destination in its own right.
The neoclassical villa was built in 1840 by Giovanni Andrea de Sangro, Prince of Fondi. Severely damaged by the 1980 earthquake, it was acquired and restored by the Municipality in the 1990s. Today, it houses the «Georges Vallet» Archaeological Museum of the Sorrento Peninsula and is surrounded by a historic park filled with olive trees, palms, and a belvedere overlooking the Gulf of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. It is here, among the flowerbeds and the sea-facing balcony, that the audience gathers at sunset to enjoy the music.
The third edition, scheduled from July 10th to August 15th, 2026, revolves around the theme «Migrant Music»: a sonic journey along Mediterranean routes, envisioned as a space for cultural exchange where music acts as a universal language capable of crossing borders and traditions. Sounds travel, meet, and transform, giving life to new expressive forms without ever losing their roots: this is the guiding concept of the program.
The most evocative event has become the festival's signature: on the morning of August 15th, while most of Italy is still asleep, the park opens at 4:30 AM to welcome the audience to witness the sunrise over the sea accompanied by live music. It is a secular Ferragosto ritual deeply felt on the Sorrento Peninsula, which over the years has featured voices like M'Barka Ben Taleb and Fiorenza Calogero herself on the outdoor stage. It is advisable to arrive well in advance: seating is limited, and the anticipation, with the sky brightening over Vesuvius, is already part of the spectacle.
The festival is realized with the support of the Metropolitan City of Naples and is part of the Estate Blu program of the Municipality of Piano di Sorrento, led by Mayor Salvatore Cappiello with Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Culture Giovanni Iaccarino. Artistic production is handled by Migrazioni Sonore (Fiorenza Calogero), and technical production by SoundFly (Bruno Savino).
Note di Stelle is not a massive festival for thousands of spectators: it is a boutique event tailored to its location, where the quality of the musical proposal counts more than big-name headliners. For those spending their holidays between Sorrento, Meta, Sant'Agnello, and the Amalfi Coast, it is the perfect opportunity for an authentic, local, and free open-air evening, just minutes from the beaches of Marina di Cassano.
Four evenings, one unique location: the park of Villa Fondi de Sangro, in Piano di Sorrento, in the Metropolitan City of Naples. The 2026 edition of Note di Stelle, directed by Fiorenza Calogero, runs from July 10th to August 15th around the theme «Migrant Music»: the Mediterranean as a space for cultural encounter, and music as a language that transcends borders and traditions.
The program alternates between Arab tradition revisited with a jazz twist, Brazilian bossa nova, Campanian folk singing, and choral polyphony. All events are free until capacity is reached and are held outdoors, with the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius in the background. The festival is part of the municipal Estate Blu program and is realized with the support of the Metropolitan City of Naples.
The finale is entrusted, as per tradition, to the Ferragosto dawn concert: Saturday, August 15th at 4:30 AM, the audience enters the park in the dark and listens to live music as the sun rises over the sea.
All concerts take place in the park of Villa Fondi de Sangro, via Ripa di Cassano 26, Piano di Sorrento.
