The summer festival in Fragagnano featuring music, theatre, sports, gastronomy, and local traditions
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The "Not Only... Settembre Fragagnanese" is the premier summer festival of the Municipality of Fragagnano, a small town in the province of Taranto, in the heart of Apulia and northern Salento. Organised by the local council in collaboration with the Pro Loco, AVIS, and numerous local associations, the event offers a rich and varied calendar that, while referencing September in its name, begins as early as August and continues until the start of autumn.
The strength of the festival lies in its diverse nature: over a few weeks, it blends culture, entertainment, sports, gastronomy, and tradition. The common thread is the idea of community, with events designed as "an opportunity for meeting and sharing" and the chance to experience the town's spaces together. Typical programme highlights include:
Alongside the performances, the festival makes space for the town's memory: from evenings in dialect dedicated to the elderly and the customs of the past, to the religious celebrations that have always marked the calendar of the Fragagnano community. It is a way to tell the story of an agricultural village in the Ionian province, amidst olive groves, vineyards, and popular devotion.
All festival events are, by tradition, free to attend, in keeping with the popular and inclusive spirit of the event. Every year, the "Settembre Fragagnanese" represents the moment when Fragagnano gathers in its squares and gardens, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into the life and traditions of Southern Apulia.
The Municipality of Fragagnano, together with the Pro Loco, AVIS, and local associations, is once again hosting the "Not Only... Settembre Fragagnanese" summer festival in 2026. As per tradition, the programme is expected to run between August and September with shows, concerts, sporting events, and moments dedicated to local traditions, all with free entry. The dates and the full schedule for the 2026 edition have not yet been published: we invite you to check for updates on the official channels of the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Fragagnano.
Fragagnano is located in the province of Taranto, about 30 km from the regional capital. By car, it can be reached via the SS7 ter and the provincial roads connecting Taranto to Salento. Events mainly take place in the historic centre and the Giardini Carducci (Via Trento), as well as at the municipal sports facilities.
All festival events are free to attend. For the updated programme, it is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality of Fragagnano and the local Pro Loco.
