The independent international film festival of Santarcangelo di Romagna
The Nòt Film Fest is the international festival dedicated to independent cinema that transforms Santarcangelo di Romagna, a hilltop village in the Province of Rimini, into a crossroads for filmmakers, producers, and enthusiasts from all over the world every late August. Founded in 2018 by the Associazione Culturale Kinetoscopio, the festival has grown edition after edition to become one of the most vibrant showcases for indie cinema in Emilia-Romagna, with a clear identity: to provide space for bold, innovative films capable of challenging conventions, and to create concrete opportunities for their creators.
The big news for 2026 is the move to MEET, the garden of the Ethnographic Museum of Santarcangelo (Giardino del MET), where a new outdoor cinema arena is being set up. This marks the return of cinema under the stars to the heart of the town after several years of absence: a choice that links the festival to the cultural relaunch of MEET and the network of city institutions. The open-air screenings, in the intimate setting of the museum garden, offer an intimate and evocative atmosphere, far from the major commercial circuits.
The festival's program revolves around an international competition divided into several sections, including documentaries (Superdoc, in feature film and short film formats), fiction narratives (Storytime, feature and short), and the music section Music Bomb dedicated to music videos and musical shorts. Each year, Nòt presents dozens of works in Italian, European, and world premieres, accompanied by awards ranging from Best Feature to Best Director, from Best Performance to recognition for emerging directors.
In addition to screenings, the festival is a true networking laboratory for the industry: talks, masterclasses, production workshops, and MovieMaker Pitching Sessions connect young filmmakers with producers, distributors, and industry professionals. Over the years, Santarcangelo has hosted prominent jurors and guests, including award-winning producers and Oscar nominees.
Under the artistic direction of Noemi Bruschi, Alizé Latini, and Giovanni Labadessa, Nòt Film Fest stands out for its militant and passionate approach to auteur cinema, summarized by slogans like "Viva Revolution" for the 2025 edition. It's not just a showcase: it's a meeting point for those who believe that independent cinema can still change the way we see the world. For four nights, Santarcangelo di Romagna becomes the capital of this vision.
From August 27 to 30, 2026, Nòt Film Fest changes its venue and moves to MEET – Giardino del MET in Santarcangelo di Romagna, with a new outdoor cinema arena that brings cinema back under the stars in the garden of the Ethnographic Museum. The festival confirms its international vocation: a competition divided into sections dedicated to documentaries (Superdoc), fiction (Storytime), and music shorts (Music Bomb), with Italian, European, and world premieres. The artistic direction remains entrusted to Noemi Bruschi, Alizé Latini, and Giovanni Labadessa.
