Big names of international music on the shores of the Fusine Lakes, reachable only on foot or by bike
Imagine a stage on the shores of an unreal green alpine lake, surrounded by fir trees and rock faces, reachable only on foot or by bicycle. This is the No Borders Music Festival, one of the most fascinating events in Europe, which for over thirty years has enlivened the Fusine Lakes, in the Tarvisiano area, at the foot of Mount Mangart and a stone's throw from the borders with Austria and Slovenia.
Founded in the 1990s, the festival has brought internationally renowned artists to this mountain corner, making the fusion of music, nature, and local culture its distinctive feature. The name itself, "No Borders," recalls the identity of a land where three nations meet and where music knows no frontiers.
The festival's unique aspect is its relationship with the environment: to reach the stage on the lake's shore, you leave your car and proceed on foot or by bike, on a path that is already part of the spectacle. Many concerts are held during the central hours of the day, with the light playing on the water and mountains. Packages combining the concert with guided nature excursions and overnight stays are often available.
The festival takes place in the valley of the Fusine Lakes and, in some editions, also on the Montasio plateau in Sella Nevea. It's the perfect opportunity to discover one of Italy's most beautiful mountain regions, with its ancient forests, glacial lakes, and the imposing peaks of the Julian Alps.
2026 marks the 31st edition of the No Borders Music Festival. On the shores of the Fusine Lakes, some of the most beloved names on the international scene will return: Tom Smith & Elvis Costello on July 11, LP on July 12, and Manu Chao with his Ultra Acoustic show on July 25. A consolidated formula that combines exceptional concerts and immersion in the unspoiled nature of the Tarvisiano area.
