A village celebration nestled in the vineyards of the Bassa Atesina
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Niclara Festival is the summer celebration of the hamlet of Niclara (known as Entiklar in German), a small village of about 150 inhabitants nestled among the vineyards above the Wine Road, south of the main town of Cortaccia sulla strada del vino/Kurtatsch an der Weinstraße, in the province of Bolzano. We are in the heart of the Bassa Atesina, one of the most renowned wine-growing areas in South Tyrol, where rural traditions and village life still set the rhythm of the seasons.
The festival is promoted by the Niclara Agricultural Association and follows a simple, heartfelt ritual that is deeply cherished by the village residents. The day begins with Holy Mass in the morning, followed by the main festivities at the association's headquarters, next to the village playground. There is plenty of food and drink prepared by volunteers, while in the afternoon, the Cortaccia Brass Band brings the festival to life with a concert, filling the hamlet with an atmosphere of authentic village conviviality.
The hamlet is home to a charming little church with a 17th-century Baroque altar, while at the foot of the hill lies Castel Turmhof, with its 13th-century tower surrounded by a beautiful park. Its location, amidst the rows of vines sloping down toward Magrè, makes Niclara an ideal destination for those who love to combine tradition, scenery, and South Tyrolean wine culture.
The Niclara Festival is not a large tourist event, but a community celebration that preserves the charm of South Tyrolean rural festivities. For visitors, it is an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Municipality of Cortaccia, far from the more crowded circuits, and to experience the genuine hospitality of a hamlet in the Trentino-Alto Adige Region. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: it is recommended to check the local events calendar as summer approaches.
The 2026 Niclara Festival does not yet have an official date published. As it is a recurring village festival organized by the Niclara Agricultural Association, a new edition is expected during the summer, with the same convivial spirit as previous years. Information will be updated as soon as it is released by the organizers.
