About New Year's Concert

Every year, the New Year's Grand Concert lights up the Teatro Comunale Vittorio Gassman in Castro dei Volsci, one of Italy's most beautiful villages overlooking the Sacco Valley in the province of Frosinone. This evening of classical and operatic music, featuring an orchestra, soprano, and tenor, is offered free of charge to the community and visitors alike. It has become a highly anticipated tradition that blends the spirit of a New Year's concert with the intimate atmosphere of one of the jewels of the Ciociaria region, in the heart of Lazio.

The concert that rings in the year in Ciociaria

The New Year's Grand Concert is the event with which Castro dei Volsci—one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy perched in the Ausoni Mountains in the province of Frosinone—bids farewell to the old year and welcomes the new one. The evening takes place at the Teatro Comunale Vittorio Gassman, the heart of the town's cultural life, and over the years it has become a tradition followed not only by locals but also by the many visitors who choose the village for the holidays.

Classical and operatic music for everyone

The program combines the great symphonic and operatic repertoire with the festive spirit typical of New Year's concerts. The stage hosts an orchestra and soloists, performing famous pieces designed to stir emotions and guide the audience into the new year in an atmosphere of elegance and celebration. It is a proposal designed for a wide audience, from families to music lovers, in a format that brings classical music closer even to those who do not usually attend concert halls.

A village that transforms at Christmas

The concert takes place during a time when Castro dei Volsci experiences one of its most evocative moments: during the holidays, the historic center, with its alleys, arches, and stone walls clustered around the fortress, comes alive with Christmas initiatives and nativity scenes. Known as the Balcony of the Ciociaria for the panoramic view sweeping over the Sacco Valley, the village offers an intimate and authentic setting, just over an hour from Rome.

A local event

The event is promoted and organized by the Municipality of Castro dei Volsci and is supported by the Lazio Region, the Monti Ausoni and Lake Fondi Regional Natural Park Authority, and the local tourism promotion circuit. Admission is free, in line with the desire to offer a moment of shared culture open to the entire community and to those visiting Ciociaria during the holiday season.

  • Completely free admission.
  • The setting of one of the most beautiful villages in Lazio, in the heart of the Christmas atmosphere.
