The Calderino festival in the Bologna hills

The New Calderino Historical Fair is the summer event that transforms the center of Calderino, the main town of the Municipality of Monte San Pietro (Metropolitan City of Bologna, Emilia-Romagna), into a large space for a widespread celebration. Promoted by Pro Loco Monte San Pietro in collaboration with the municipal administration, the event involves commercial activities, the rich network of associations, and the entire village territory, offering numerous opportunities for leisure, entertainment, and discovery of the artistic, environmental, and food and wine excellences of the hills.

Four thematic areas

The fair is structured into four areas spread across Piazza della Pace and the surrounding streets, each with its own offering of gastronomy, entertainment, and shows. Along the entire route, visitors will find refreshment points, street food stalls, and association stands, in an atmosphere of popular celebration that attracts residents and curious visitors from all over the area.

Local gastronomy

The heart of the fair is the local cuisine. In the central area, the restaurant "l'Osteria della scarpetta", "crescentine" from "la Rosa", and "borlengai" from Ronca are the stars, while in the various areas, you can taste the typical specialties of the Bologna and Modena hills. Among the most cherished events is the "raviole" competition, a dessert that is a symbol of local tradition.

Music, dancing, and entertainment

The program features music and folk dancing, 1950s and 1960s-style entertainment, fitness and dance performances, as well as ancient and modern games designed to engage both adults and children. The day unfolds between gastronomic moments and shows, with a rhythm that lasts from morning until evening.

Discovering the territory

The fair is also an opportunity to discover Calderino and its hills: you can visit the "Bruno Nigelli" vintage motorcycle collection, walk along the ancient Via dei Brentatori, or cycle through the gentle slopes surrounding the village. The event is part of the food and wine route "Città Castelli Ciliegi", which promotes the typical products of this corner of the province of Bologna, from cherries to the wines of the Colli Bolognesi.

A village tradition

More than just a simple festival, the New Calderino Historical Fair is the moment when the community of Monte San Pietro comes together around its traditions. The event, with free admission, combines the promotion of the territory with the typical conviviality of Emilia's village festivals, and is one of the most anticipated summer events in the hills west of Bologna.
